Digital Solopreneur: The Only Job That Will Matter Tomorrow

Welcome to 2030, where you won’t work for companies anymore, but for your own creativity.

2030: An AI already does your job like a pro. And you? What are you doing now?

Sipping a drink on a nice terrace thinking the AI works for you? Not quite.

In reality, by this point, you’ve got only 3 options left:

Option 1: Take a frontline job, one that robots can’t handle yet. You know, caring for people, fighting fires, collecting garbage. But let’s be honest, that’s just delaying the inevitable until Tesla’s Optimus robots step in and do it better.
Option 2: Sit behind a screen supervising the AI doing your job. You give it a nudge here and there, optimizing a few things, all while helping it wipe out even more jobs. Unfortunately, that’s where most people will land since there won’t be many career options left.
Option 3: Cross your fingers and hope for a decent universal basic income. That is, if your government is smart enough to implement one to handle the massive job market crash. We all know that’s far from guaranteed.

But wait, there’s a fourth path: becoming a Digital Solopreneur.

What is a Digital Solopreneur?

In 2030, that’s not your average freelancer doing repetitive tasks (like editing YouTube videos all day). Nope, this is full-on content creation.

I know what you’re thinking: “But wait, 90% of the internet’s content will be AI-generated by 2030!” Yep, videos will be churned out by avatars with automatic editing, images, text: the whole thing will be synthetic.

But luckily for us humans, we’ve still got ideas.

A Human Idea for Synthetic Content

By 2030, most people will have tons of free time on their hands because no one’s really working, and the consumption of content will skyrocket. You’ll either be a content consumer or a content creator.

Sure, AI will take care of the bulk of the content creation chain, but what’s left is the very essence of being human: ideas, innovation, art.

The content creator of the future will just need to write (or more likely dictate) their idea and the key points to develop it. They’ll need to produce something clear and sharp, with authenticity that their audience will recognize as human, not synthetic (even if it’ll get harder to tell the difference, real human ideas still stand out).

Let’s face it, no one’s going to want to consume content that’s 100% robot-generated. Authenticity, added value, and the beauty of a human-driven idea will be the foundation of content creation.
The rest will be automated by AI (to reach the widest possible audience): your core text will be read by an AI in your voice (or a smoother one) to make a podcast, an avatar will be used to create a video, and the accompanying illustrations will all be AI-generated. That raw content will then be sliced and diced into tweets, shorts, reels, and more for mass media consumption.

It’s exactly what today’s millionaire creators do with their “digital dream teams.”

A handful of creators will probably dominate most of the market, just like Mr. Beast on YouTube today. But human nature guarantees that tons of sub-niches and categories will emerge, leaving room for everyone to create content that resonates with their own unique audience.

The diversity of our world and human curiosity means the number of topics, categories, and themes is limitless.

Creator or Unemployed

Working a soon-to-be-automated job? Content creation might just be your lifeline. And believe me, transition coaches will be in high demand. One hour of coaching to jump from 1 million to 100 million followers in 30 days? Welcome to the new normal.

And yeah, by 2030, follower counts will have exploded: everyone’s consuming tons of content because, frankly, there’s nothing else to do. Sorry to be so pessimistic, but we won’t be spending our time traveling or living IRL adventures. That pollutes too much!

Sadly, I think teaching jobs will disappear too. Education will go digital. Knowledge and experience in any field will be monetized by individuals with solid audience trust in the authenticity of their expertise. After all, no one’s going to want to learn from fake news or consume AI-generated content without human verification.

Trust and authenticity will remain the ultimate line between humans and robots.

Basic education, reading, writing, reasoning, might be taught by AI from a young age. But that’s more dystopian novel material, and I’ll save that for another time.

For boomers, working on a computer, designing websites, managing network security, or being a community manager aren’t “real jobs.” These roles didn’t even exist 30 years ago. It’s the same for us today — we have no clue what jobs will exist in 20 or even 10 years (because everything is speeding up).

But one thing is clear: the “creator economy” isn’t fading out or hitting a ceiling — it’s just getting started. Right now, it’s worth $250 billion, with projections to hit $500 billion by 2030…

The Key: Your Audience

If you take away one thing, let it be this: the key to survival is building your audience.

Now!

Pick a platform where you can connect with your community and where authenticity reigns. Because in 2030, authenticity will be your greatest asset. Working solo also allows you to express your personality so that your audience can easily recognize you amidst the sea of AI-generated content.
